The present invention comprises a multimetallic supported compound which comprises a multimetallic system supported on a calcined mixed-oxide obtainable from a layered double hydroxide hydrotalcite-type, wherein: the multimetallic supported compound has an amount of M(I) comprised from 2 to 50% by weight of the weight of the calcined metal supported on the mixed-oxide obtained from hydrotalcite-type or an amount of M(II)' comprised from 5 to 50% by weight of the calcined metal supported on the mixed-oxide obtained from hydrotalcite-type; or an amount of M(I) and M(II)' comprised from 2 to 50% by weight of the calcined metal supported on the mixed-oxide obtained from hydrotalcite-type; and the calcined mixed-oxide obtained from hydrotalcite-type has an amount of M(II) comprised from 4 to 50 % by weight of the weight of the calcined mixed-oxide obtained from hydrotalcite-type. A process for capturing and reducing carbon dioxide comprising: Contacting a multimetallic supported compound as defined above with a gas stream containing carbon dioxide to obtain the multimetallic supported compound having the carbon dioxide adsorbed; and (b) Contacting the multimetallic supported compound obtained in step (a), with a reducing agent selected from the group consisting of H2 , an hydrogen source, and mixture thereof.
